Established in 1947[2], the venue has featured performances from popular musicians such as Bob Dylan, Mumford & Sons, The Black Keys, Tenacious D, B.B King.[3][4] and many more.
History
[edit]The Pinewood Bowl Theater, built in 1947[5] in Lincoln, Nebraska, was created to serve the growing need for a larger venue for open-air church services, particularly for airmen stationed at Lincoln’s air base.[6] Initially, services were held on the steps of the Nebraska State Capitol, but as the congregation grew to over 1,000 people, the Capitol steps became overcrowded. The theater was constructed to provide a space not only for worship and prayer but also for entertainment for servicemen and their families[7]
