Park Jiwon (Korean: 박지원; born March 19, 1998), known mononymously as Jiwon, is a South Korean singer-songwriter under ASND. She is a member of the girl group fromis_9.
Career
[edit]2015–2017: Sixteen, Idol School and departure from JYP
[edit]In May 2015, Jiwon participated in the Mnet reality survival program Sixteen where she was pitted against 15 other trainees from JYP Entertainment to secure a spot in the label's next girl group after Miss A and Wonder Girls, later revealed to be named Twice.[1] However, she was eliminated in the 9th episode,she left JYP Entertainment .[2][3]
In July 2017, Jiwon participated in the Mnet reality survival program Idol School to compete with 40 other contestants for an opportunity to debut in a 9-member girl group, later revealed to be named Fromis 9.[4]Park placed 6th overall in the show's finale on September 29, becoming a member of Fromis 9.[5]
2018-2025:
[edit]The group made their official debut on January 24, 2018 with their first mini album To. Heart.[6]On May 21, 2019,Jiwon released her first OST titled "Start From Now On" for the series The Secret Life of My Secretary alongside fellow fromis_9 member Nagyung.[7]On July 13, 2021, Jiwon released her second OST titled "Cloud", for "Racket Boys".[8]On January 12,2023 , Jiwon released her third OST titled "Don't Leave Me" for the series Poong, the Joseon Psychiatrist .[9]On July 24, 2023, Jiwon participated in the "Say Project," collaborating on a new song titled "Tell You (This Summer Night)." [10][11]On November 2023,it was announced Ji-won will collaborate with Baekho on a duet. The song will be part of Baekho's ongoing music project, "the [bæd] time", and will be released as the second single of the project.[12]In November 2024, , Pledis Entertainment, confirmed that their contract with Park would end on December 31, 2024.[13][14]
2025: New agency
[edit]On January 26, 2025, ASND announced that Jiwon, along with Hayoung, Chaeyoung, Nagyung, and Jiheon, had signed on with them.[15][16]
