Introduction

Nora Lee García is a highly acclaimed Puerto Rican flutist, educator, and recording artist. She serves as Professor of Flute at the University of Central Florida (UCF) and is a Powell Flutes Artist. García is internationally recognized for her performances as a soloist, chamber musician, and orchestral player. She holds the position of principal flute with both the Bach Festival Orchestra of Winter Park and the Florida Chamber Orchestra.[1][2][3]

Education

García's academic credentials include degrees from the Conservatorio de Música de Puerto Rico, the University of Miami, and the Brooklyn College Conservatory of Music. Her principal teachers have been distinguished flutists such as Michel Debost, James Galway, and Carol Wincenc.[4][5]

As a dedicated educator, García founded the "Flute at UCF" program, which encompasses masterclasses, summer institutes, and the UCF Flute Boot Camp. She has also hosted masterclasses featuring prominent flutists like Sir James Galway and Carol Wincenc.

García has graced prestigious stages worldwide, including Carnegie Hall, and has participated in numerous international flute festivals across Europe, South America, and the United States. Her collaborations include performances under renowned conductors like Michael Tilson Thomas and Krzysztof Penderecki, and she has worked with esteemed composers such as George Crumb and Roberto Sierra.[6]

In the recording realm, García's notable works include the album Cubatina, a collaboration with guitarist Rene Izquierdo. This album offers fresh interpretations of Cuban and Argentine compositions and has received critical acclaim.[7]
