Nicanor Sarabia Besas, Jr. (born January 10, 1952),[1] also known as Nick Besas, is a Filipino politician from Bohol, Philippines, who has served as a Punong Barangay, City Councilor, and ABC President in Tagbilaran City, and is currently the Vice Governor of Bohol.[2][3]
Early life and education
[edit]Born on January 10, 1952, in Jagna, Bohol, Besas completed his elementary education at Collegio de la Medalla, where he was the valedictorian in 1964. He attended Divine World College for high school, graduating in 1968. He pursued higher education at Cebu Polytechnic College, earning an Associate in Nautical Science in 1971. Subsequently, he studied at the University of Bohol, graduating in 1973 with a Bachelor of Science in Commerce, majoring in Accountancy.[4][verification needed]
Political career
[edit]Besas has held several positions in public service. He served for nine years as Punong Barangay in Cogon District, Tagbilaran City. He was later elected as ABC (Liga ng Mga Barangay) President, serving for three years. From 2019 to 2025, he served as a Tagbilaran City Councilor.[5][6] He also held the role of President of the Philippine Councilors League (PCL) – Bohol Chapter.[7]
Personal life
[edit]Besas is married to Pamela Eulalia Tocmo. He has a daughter, Kristine Alexie Besas-Tutor, who serves as a Congresswoman representing the Third District of Bohol.[7]
