The Nebraska Writers Collective (NWC) is an Omaha-based 501c3 nonprofit founded in 2008.
The organization is responsible for the annual All Writes Reserved Youth Poetry Festival (known previously as Louder Than a Bomb: Great Plains [1] from 2012-2022) as well as other programs with high schools, middle schools, correctional facilities [2] and others.
A major program by the NWC is to choose a new Nebraska Youth Poet Laureate each year. [3] This program works in conjunction with Urban Word who, every year, selects a new National_Youth_Poet_Laureate.
They also run Writers Block, a program serving incarcerated individuals in Nebraska correctional facilities.[4]
The NWC collaborates with community organizations such as Opera_Omaha[5], the Joslyn_Art_Museum[6] and others.
The organization was founded by Ryan Pozzi (formerly Ryan Tewell) who served as Executive Director until 2009 when poet Matt Mason succeeded him. After Mason stepped down in 2022, he was succeeded by Co-Executive Directors Zedeka Poindexter and Gina Tranisi.
The NWC is listed as a Nebraska literary resource by the Nebraska Center for the Book,[7] the Nebraska Poetry Society[8] and others.
