Miss Teen Nigeria is an annual beauty pageant for nigerian teenagers between the ages of 14-19, founded in 2017 and organized by FBG Entertainment. The pageant is focused on empowering teenage girls across Nigeria, providing them with a platform to be Beautifully Driven.[1]
The first edition was held in 2017, and the winner, Martha Aiyede from Kogi State, later became the face of Lush Hair Nigeria. After a brief hiatus following the 2017 edition, the pageant returned in 2023 with a virtual edition that crowned Gift Ilovhogie (popularly known as Modellah Gift) Miss Teen Nigeria 2023, earning her the rights to represent Nigeria at Miss Teen Charm in Venezuela which she couldn’t attend due to visa challenges. She later represented Nigeria at Miss Teen Icon International 2024 in Cambodia, where she won the Super Model Award and placed as 5th Runner-Up.[2]
Gift Ilovhogie crowned her successor, Vanessa Edem, on the 5th October, 2024 at the Lagos Theatre Igando. Vanessa, the niece of Miss Nigeria 2002 Sylvia Edem, received national attention and media coverage following her win.[3]

Vanessa Edem has appeared in multiple media features including TVC News,[4] WAVN TV,[5] and received coverage in national dailies such as ThisDay,[6] and Guardian.[7]
Beautifully Driven
[edit]Beautifully Driven is the heart of Miss Teen Nigeria. It represents the pageant's powerhouse for advocacy, charity, and community impact.[8] Each contestant is expected to submit a personal project addressing social issues while amplifying their impact projects through the Teen Voices competition.[9]
While winning is officially based on multiple criteria's including public speaking, confidence, behavior, grace and stage performance, it is often believed (though unofficially) that strong project submissions can be an early indicator of who the finalists and eventual winners might be. This belief gained traction in 2024 when 2 out of the Top 3 most compelling projects submitted by contestants from Cross River, FCT Abuja, and Akwa Ibom were coincidentally in the final Top 3 at the Grand Finale.[10]
Franchises
[edit]Miss Teen Nigeria holds the national franchises for the following international competitions:
- Miss Teen Icon International – holds in Cambodia
- Miss Teen Global – holds in Malaysia
The winner or one of the runner-ups typically represents Nigeria in these international pageants.
Competition
[edit]The Miss Teen Nigeria competition begins with an open nationwide registration. Applicants are shortlisted through virtual and in-person interviews, after which 8-15 finalists are selected to represent their states.[11]
These finalists are given various tasks to assess intelligence, behavior, public speaking skills, cultural knowledge, and social impact which leads up to a bootcamp before competing in the grand finale, where one is crowned Miss Teen Nigeria.

In 2023, winner Gift Ilovhogie received a grand prize valued at ₦1,000,000 and represented Nigeria at Miss Teen Icon International in Cambodia.
In 2024, winner Vanessa Edem received 150sqm plot of land, a grand prize valued at ₦1,000,000, a makeup kit, One Hundred and Fifty Thousand Naira Ambassadorial deal and will represent Nigeria Internationally.[12]
