Michael Anthony Tanzi (born April 27, 1977) is an American convicted murderer on death row in Florida. He was sentenced to death in Monroe County, Florida for the April 25, 2000 kidnap-murder of Janet Acosta, a production supervisor with the Miami Herald. Tanzi kidnapped her in Miami, stole her car and drove it to the Florida Keys, used her bank card to withdraw money for himself, then finally killed her by strangling her and dumping her body in mangroves[1]. Tanzi has since lost all of his appeals against the death penalty, and is scheduled to be put to death by lethal injection on April 8, 2025. Tanzi was put to death April 8th 2025 at 6:12 pm.
