Zibziner (born July 12, 1964) is guitarist, composer, and music producer.

Biography

Menachem has created and participated in many ensembles and worked with well-known artists in Israel and abroad such as the jazz band Minuette Jazz Quartet, Kenwood Dennard, Jay Rodriguez Sierra, Gilad Atzmon, Yaron Stavi, Asaf Sirkis, Albert Beger, Harold Rubin, Tararam Group, Keren Malka, and many others. Zibziner has taken part both on stage and behind the scenes in a large number of performances, festivals, and cultural events and has been involved in the creation and release of several albums in various creative fields.

Early Life

Menachem Zibziner was born and raised in Haifa, Israel where he grew up and was active in the rock and blues scene of the 1980s. He was the first in his family to ever deal with music. His early musical influences were The Beatles, Jimmy Hendrix, Led Zeppelin, Yes, Genesis, Weather Report, Arabic, and Israeli folk music. At age of 19 he moved to Tel Aviv and started a professional career as a programmer along his major occupation in music. His later influences were European Jazz and Middle East traditions such as Bill Frisell, John Scofield, Keith Jarret, Mohammed Abdel Wahab and more.

Minuette Jazz Quartet

In 1988, Zibziner, along with his friends, established the renowned jazz quartet Minuette Jazz Quartet which is still active today. Zibziner recorded four albums with the quartet and participated in many performances and festivals in Israel and other countries. The ensemble's first record, "First Dance" is still considered a best-selling Israeli jazz record.

The 2000's

In the 2000s, Menachem was involved in the creation and production of electronic-acoustic music, participated in several projects and ensembles that combined composition, arrangement, and live performances such as the ensembles "Paka" (Human Beatbox) and "Compulsive Disorder" (ambient and acoustic D&B), "Tararam" (percussion/multimedia ensemble), and more.

Dance and Theater

Additionally, he was involved in playing and musical production for several theater plays, composed and edited original music for the show "From Above" and the show "Red" by Sally Ann Friedland, which were performed at Suzanne Dellal as part of dance festivals.

Guitar Trio

On 2024, after many years being a team player, Menachem began a solo career and formed the Menachem Zibziner Trio, with a repertoire of original compositions as well as reimagined covers. According to their website, the band offers "An emotional, atmospheric and ambient jazz style, infused with European and Middle Eastern influences and aromas. We aim for our audience to not only hear our music but to truly feel it".

Personal Life

Menachem also worked in studio work including recordings, mixes, and mastering, among other things in his personal home studio. Zibziner is a father of four children, a veteran serial entrepreneur in the high-tech industry, and also a former rider and journalist in the field of mountain biking for various magazines.
