Meret Manon Bannerman (Zurich, June 26, 2002), better known as Manon Bannerman or simply Manon, is a Swiss singer, known for being a member of the American girl group Katseye.
She participated as a contestant in the reality/survival show The Debut: Dream Academy and finished in sixth place in the final, thus becoming a member of the girl group Katseye.[1]
Career
[edit]On August 29, 2023, Manon was announced as a contestant on The Debut: Dream Academy.[2][3]
On November 18, it was revealed that Manon was a member of the debut group Katseye, after finishing in sixth place in the survival show.[4]
The Debut: Dream Academy
[edit]Manon participated in the HYBE X Geffen Records survival program, which started on September 1, 2023, and concluded on November 17, 2023, after successfully debuting as a member of KATSEYE.[5]
During Mission 1 (September 1–15, 2023), she was on Vocal Team A, performing alongside Brooklyn Van Zandt (USA), Iliya Ferdartsova (Belarus), Karlee Tanaka (USA), and Lexie Levin (Sweden). She received immunity from elimination, finishing in 4th place in the voting results both during the middle and final of Mission 1.[6]
During Mission 2 (September 28 – October 8, 2023), she was on Team FEARLESS B, performing with Celeste Díaz (Argentina), Daniela (USA), Ezrela Abraham (Australia), and Ua Shimada (Japan). As Team B won over Team A, Manon gained immunity from elimination, finishing in 7th place in the individual votes.[3]
During Mission 3 (October 28 – November 5, 2023), she was on the team Buttons, performing with Celeste, Daniela, Nayoung (South Korea), and Sofía (Philippines). She finished 9th in the fan voting and received an invitation to the live Final. Mission 3 was the only one where Manon risked elimination.[7]
During the live Final (November 17, 2023), she was on the team Dirty Water, along with Ezrela, Lara (USA), Samara (Brazil), and Sofía. Her final score was 68.00, earning her debut.[8]
Personal Life
[edit]Manon can speak English, Swiss-German, and German.[9] She is a fan of Billie Eilish and Beyoncé.[10] Her father is Ghanaian, and her mother is Swiss-Italian.[11][12] She enjoys traveling. She finished in sixth place in the final announcement of the show.[8] Her individual fan group is called "Pokénons," referencing the Japanese media franchise Pokémon.[13]
