Lanyūn is a constructed language developed by Mongolian author and linguist Гантөгс (online alias: Gantugss1) in 2025. The language was designed with its own original alphabet, vocabulary, grammar system, and artistic identity. It serves as a new, independent language intended for use in creative expression, education, and digital media.
Origin and development
[edit]Lanyūn was created by Гантөгс with the aim of building a culturally expressive and fully independent language. It is not derived from any existing natural language and emphasizes originality and creativity in both structure and use.
Writing system
[edit]The language utilizes two distinct writing systems:
- Lanyūn Symbols: a standard alphabet used for everyday writing
- Lanyūn Script: a stylized, artistic variant used in literature and visual media
The complete alphabet consists of 30 unique characters, all designed specifically for the language.
Grammar and vocabulary
[edit]Lanyūn features its own grammar system, including rules for tense, plurality, cases, modifiers, and sentence structure. The vocabulary includes over 3,000 words, categorized by part of speech. Each word entry includes the Lanyūn script, a Latin transliteration, and both Mongolian and English translations.
Digital tools
[edit]The Lanyūn language is supported by several digital resources:
- Lanyūn fonts, compatible with iOS, Android, and Windows
- Lanyūn keyboard for Android (iOS version under development)
- LanyūnLearñ App for writing practice, vocabulary, and grammar learning
- Official website
Literature
[edit]Lanyūn features a dedicated literary section known as "Шүлгийн булан" (Poetry Corner), which includes original poems and writings inspired by Mongolian poetic traditions.
Copyright and license
