Lagos State Agricultural Development Authority (LSADA)
[edit]The Lagos State Agricultural Development Project (ADP), now known as the Lagos State Agricultural Development Authority (LSADA), was established in 1987 (Edit No. 14 of 31st August, 1989) and became a scheduled parastatal of the Lagos State Government with effect from 1st of April, 1995 (Edit No. 8 of 17th August, 1997) as the implementation arm of the Lagos State Ministry of Agriculture and Food Systems.[1] formerly known as the Lagos State Ministry of Agriculture and Cooperatives[2]
The Authority works to sustain the way of life and prosperity of the farmers in the state with a specific mandate of providing services to improve the productivity, competitiveness, income, and sustainability of agriculture, fisheries, livestock, crops, agro-processing, farm mechanisation and related sectors.
The mandate is being carried out through; generation and dissemination of improved farming technologies, linkage of farmers to improved input sources, effective monitoring of activities, as well as taking farmers problems to research institutions for solutions. In pursuing this overarching objective stated above, the following team of professionals are deployed to different agricultural zones of the state: Subject Matter Specialists (SMSs), Block Extension Officers (BESs), Extension Agents (EAs), Zonal Planning Officers (ZPOs), Enumerators, and Facilitators, to relate with farmers, identify their farming-related challenges, and provide solutions to the identified challenges.
