Kostelec u Jihlavy is a railway station in Kostelec (Jihlava District), Czech Republic. It lies on a single-track line Havlíčkův Brod – Veselí nad Lužnicí and it is also a starting point of a line to Slavonice. The station is electrified (25 kV, 50 Hz AC). In the town, on the line to Slavonice, there is another station, called Kostelec u Jihlavy masna, located near the meat packing factory.
History
[edit]The station was opened in 3rd November 1887, as a part of the Veselí nad Lužnicí-Jihlava line. In 13th August 1898, the line Kostelec-Telč was opened, and in 1902, it was lenghtened to Waldkirchen an der Thaya in Austria (the part from Slavonice to Austria was disconnected in 1945).
In 1918, the station became a part of Czechoslovak State Railways (ČSD) network and in 1925, it was put under state control.[1] On 28th May 1980, it was electrified.
Description
[edit]At this station, there are three open-air platforms accessible by rail crossings and one roofed island platform, accessible by an underpass.[2]
