Then in 2013 he had a heart attack and triple bypass surgery, and a serious stroke in 2014. The doctor then told him he must reduce his stress level and he should probably give up on the stand up comedy. But Kirby didn't give up. He did open mics and one nighters anywhere he could.
Then in 2020 his mother had been diagnosed with Parkinson Plus, a rare disease that strikes without warning. She then developed dementia and died on April 11, 2022. He the received an offer for a small supporting role in the Bootlife Entertainment film, "Who Got The Bag?". A little apprehensive to act in a movie he talked with his father about it, and his father told him he always wanted to see him do something like this. His father then died at the age of 74 two months later of heart attack. So Kirby then joined the cast as a tabloid TV show host for the movie, "Who Got The Bag?"
