Kevin McGinnis (born September 22 1974) is an American singer, songwriter, and guitarist from Queens, New York.
Biography
[edit]Kevin McGinnis was a member of The New Rising Sons, founded in 1997 with Garrett Klahn (Texas Is The Reason) and Drew Thomas (Into Another).[1] The band would sign to Virgin Records, recording a full length LP produced by Ted Niceley and mixed by Andy Wallace. After the breakup of the New Rising Sons, McGinnis joined Dopo Yume, an American indie band whose lineup included Sean Lennon on bass. McGinnis appeared on Shudder To Think frontman Craig Wedren's 2005 album Lapland [2], was featured on lead guitar on the Guided By Voices song "Overloaded" from their 2017 album August By Cake,[3], and continued as main songwriter and performer for the shoegaze band Ursula Points.[4] On The Bloodthirsty Lovers 2009 tour in support of their album The Delicate Seam, McGinnis supplied bass, synth, and guitar.[5]
Since 2008 Kevin has fronted his own band Twelve A.M. Flowers (featuring Kevin March and Tony Maimone), independently releasing two full length LPs, and in 2017 formed Twiggy Branches with Christopher Pravdica of Swans. The Twiggy Branches EP "Waste Not, Want More" was recorded by Paul Kostabi.[6]
