Karl Alomar (born February 5, 1968) is an American business executive and venture capitalist, best known for his role as the Chief Operating Officer (COO) of DigitalOcean, a cloud infrastructure company.[1][2] Alomar is currently a Managing Partner at M13, a venture capital firm.[3][4][5]
Early life and education
[edit]Alomar attended Harrow School, where he completed his A-levels in 1991. He pursued higher education at Imperial College London, earning a Bachelor of Engineering in Electrical and Electronics Engineering in 1994.[6] Alomar later attended Columbia Business School, graduating with a Master of Business Administration (MBA) in 2003.[7]
Career
[edit]Alomar began his professional journey in 1994 by, founding and managing multiple startups across various industries including Clearview Networks Inc. and China Export Finance.[8][9][10][11][12]
In 2012, Alomar joined DigitalOcean as Chief Operating Officer, contributing to the company's growth and global expansion.[13] During this time, the company increased its customer base and developed its presence in cloud infrastructure.[14][15][16]
After departing DigitalOcean in 2019, Alomar transitioned to venture capital as a Managing Partner at M13,[17] where he focuses on working with startups in the consumer technology sector.[18][19]
