Karan Javaji
[edit]Karan Javaji is an Indian economist, entrepreneur, and former officer of the Reserve Bank of India (RBI).[1] He was appointed as an officer in the Territorial Army according to a 2019 government notification.[2]
Education
[edit]Javaji attended Cornell University. During his time there, he founded the South Asian Council in 2013, an organization focused on cultural awareness among South Asian students.[3] He served as president of the African, Latino, Asian, Native American Students Intercultural Programming Board (ALANA), where he secured additional funding for multicultural organizations.[4]
Javaji was a member of Cornell University's varsity polo team.[5] He was also inducted into the Sphinx Head and Mortar Board honor societies.
Professional career
[edit]After completing his education, Javaji joined the Reserve Bank of India as an officer. He provided research assistance for a study examining the redistribution of economic resources due to the Maoist uprising in Nepal.[6] He also contributed to research on India's digital financial infrastructure, particularly regarding digital payment systems.[1]
Javaji has worked as a researcher at the Indian Institute of Management Bangalore.[6]
Writing and publications
[edit]Javaji has contributed articles to The Print, writing on economic topics including agricultural markets and distribution systems.[7][8] He has contributed to publications about India's economic initiatives.[9] He is cited as an expert in The Future of Money.[10]
Entrepreneurship
[edit]Javaji is involved with Boni, a technology startup.[11][12]
Personal life
[edit]In his youth, Javaji participated in chess at the state level and was a member of a state rugby team.[13]
