Juvenal Gomes Velissavo Xirimbimbi (born June 8, 1976) is an Angolan theologian, educator, and religious leader. He currently serves as a professor of theology at the Instituto Superior Politécnico Adventista do Bongo (ISPAB)[1] and is known for his academic and pastoral contributions to the Seventh-day Adventist Church in Angola.
Education and academic work
[edit]Xirimbimbi began his academic journey at the Adventist Seminary of Huambo, earning a Bachelor of Arts in Theology in 2001.[2] He later obtained a Licentiate in Educational Psychology from Universidade Agostinho Neto in 2008.[3] In 2014, he completed a Master of Arts in Missiology[4] at the Adventist University of Africa, where he wrote a proposal for including Islamic Studies in the curriculum of the Adventist Seminary in Huambo. He is also a PhD graduate in Religion from the Adventist International Institute of Advanced Studies (AIIAS) in the Philippines.[5]
His academic work emphasizes mission, education, and contextual theology, particularly in the context of religious pluralism in Angola.
Career

Xirimbimbi began his career as a teacher in 1994 and became a district pastor in 2001. From 2011 to 2016, he served as Educational Director of the North Angolan Field of Seventh-day Adventists before taking study leave to pursue his doctoral degree. He returned to serve as a theology professor at ISPAB beginning in 2023.
He has also served part-time as a high school teacher under Angola's Ministry of Education (2010–2020), blending his academic, pastoral, and civic service roles.

Xirimbimbi was born in Massango, Malanje province, Angola. He is married and has two sons, Josias and Alberto. His multicultural experience and education have shaped his passion for mission work, especially in cross-cultural and interfaith contexts.
