Josselin Azorin-Lara
[edit]Josselin Azorin-Lara, known by his pseudonym Josswala, (born 1976 in Maisons-Laffitte, France) is a French author, transmedia writer, and producer. He is a member of the League of Professional Authors and part of the Comic Book Commission with ADAGP, where he advocates for the recognition of webtoon authors in France.
Career
[edit]In 1998, Azorin-Lara co-founded the NEKOMIX association, marking his initial foray into amateur comic book writing. From 2001 to 2009, he co-managed Studio Nekome, a label he co-founded, while also launching NEKOWEAR, his own t-shirt brand.
In 2005, he co-created Street Battle project with Éric Vesch. His professional career as a comic book writer began in 2009, with original projects such as Break!, Samourawaii, and Néron.
In 2011, Josselin Azorin-Lara collaborated with Sylvain Dos Santos on projects, initially contributing as a writer. Their work led to the release of three series - Golam, Baskup - Tony Parker and Turboten, all of which were transmedia projects[1], marking Azorin-Lara’s entry into the field of transmedia storytelling. Later, he also worked with Dos Santos on the comedy series Le Monde selon Kev (The World According to Kev)[2].
In 2013, Azorin-Lara relocated to Pune, India, where he co-founded Minte Studio. Leading a team of 25 Indian artists, he produced several comic books[3], including Frigiel et Fluffy[4]. Upon returning to France in 2020, he relaunched Samourawaii as a webtoon with Naver Webtoon France. That same year, he joined Andarta Pictures as a writing director and screenwriter, contributing to projects such as Baïdir and Gustave.
In 2022, he joined Ankama as a webtoon producer and writer. Here he launched the sequel to Samourawaii, titled Ouros, which was released on Ankama's webtoon platform, Allskreen.
