Jason Cermak is a Canadian born actor known for his work in film and television. He has played characters in two VC Andrews' made for TV movie series: Troy Tatterton in the Heaven series[1] and Randolph Cutler in the Dawn series.[2] He is also know for playing Sebastien 'Bash' Mallory in the CW series Superman and Lois. His television credits also include male lead roles in Hallmark Channel's Eat, Play, Love, and Creating Christmas Magic on Amazon Prime.
Early Life
[edit]Jason Cermak was born in Drayton Valley, Alberta, Canada and grew up on a ranch near Rocky Mountain House, Alberta, Canada.
His father was a rodeo cowboy who also worked in the oil and gas industry and his mother was a musician and substitute teacher. His mother taught drama classes and introduced Jason to acting at an early age.
Career
[edit]Jason attended the University of Calgary from 1995-2000 and received a Bachelor of Commerce degree specializing in Information Technology.
After graduating Jason lived in Prague for a year. A chance meeting with Matt Damon in Prague on the set of The Bourne Identity in 2000 inspired Jason to get an acting agent and begin his acting career. Upon returning to Canada, Jason was hired by the University of Calgary and taught five semesters of advanced telecommunications as a sessional instructor.
Later Jason worked for Deloitte as a technology consultant for four years and was transferred to Melbourne, Australia where he was working as a senior consultant before moving back to Canada and transitioned to acting full time in 2006.
Jason booked his first feature film role in Paul Gross' Canadian war movie "Passchendaele" and first gained recognition for his performance as Doctor Burns in "When Calls the Heart", which aired in 2015. Other roles include the recurring character of Sergent Mansdale in the CBS series "Zoo" and Tommy Sloane in Hallmark Channel's "Fixer Upper" murder mystery series starring Jewel Kilcher. He has appeared in numerous Lifetime and Hallmark made for TV movies including Hallmark's "Christmas at Dollywood" starring Dolly Parton.
