Inga Minelgaite (b. 1982) is a professor, speaker, corporate trainer, honorary consul of Lithuania in Iceland, and a public figure.
Inga serves as tenure professor at the School of Business, University of Iceland[1] and is visiting and/or affiliated professor in few universities outside Iceland[2][3]. Inga is the first foreigner to hold the tenure position of professor at the School of Business of the University of Iceland. She is the director of two Master‘s study programmes at the University of Iceland[4][5]. Inga's main research area is organizational leadership[6][7][8][9][10][11][12][13][14][15][16][17][18][19][20][21]. Non-academic Career
[edit]Inga Minelgaite has a diverse management background, acquired through extensive experience in both the private and public sectors, spanning small enterprises to globally recognized industry leaders.
During recent years as the co-founder of Infinitus Labs[76], she has specialized in corporate training and consultancy, collaborating with a wide range of private sector clients, from major industry leaders to startups. Additionally, she has played an active role in contributing to management programs in public sector, e.g., GovTech Innovation Academy[77].
Her commitment to leadership in development of organizations is reflected in number of contexts where she served as board member. Her early experience as board member serving in various companies in construction sector spam 2006 – 2012. More recent positions include: a Board Member at WOW University, the world’s first women-only online university[78]; the Advisory Board of the STEAM Centre at Klaipėda University[79]. She served as Chairwoman of the Council at Kazimieras Simonavicius University (2021–2024). She also was a founder of the Institute for Project Management at the University of Iceland (2018–2019) and served as Chair.
Her career spans various leadership roles, including General Manager and Project Manager in the construction industry (2006–2012), as well as Head of the Project Management Center at the University of Applied Social Sciences (2005–2007). She has also led marketing, sales, and HR functions, demonstrating in a company in wood-processing industry.
As an Honorary Consul of Lithuania in Iceland (2020–present), she plays a diplomatic role in fostering bilateral relations between Lithuania and Iceland[80][81].
During recent years Inga Minelgaite has been contributing to development of various organizations in a capacity of advisor and consultant, bringing her expertise in corporate strategy, governance, and leadership. In this capacity she has worked with diverse range of companies including global leaders (e.g., Alba – the world’s largest aluminium smelter, Bahrein)[82][1].
Inga Minelgaite has been featured as a keynote speaker, expert, and panel member at number of high-profile conferences, e.g. Login, EBIT [83][84].
Academic Career
[edit]Inga graduated in 2004 with a bachelor's degree in business administration, with an emphasis on marketing management, from ISM University of Management and Economics, business school founded in Lithuania by BI (Business Institute, Norway) [85]. In 2008, she completed a Master's degree in Business Administration with an emphasis on Human Resources and Personnel Management from Kaunas University of Technology [86]. In 2012-2016, Inga pursued a doctoral program at the School of Business at University of Iceland[87], where she focused on cross-cultural leadership research, and in 2016 was awarded the Doctor of Philosophy degree.
Inga Minelgaite gained her first experience as a lecturer in higher education in 2005-2006 and served as a lecture at SMK [88]. However, she has primarily built her career in higher education at the University of Iceland, where she began as a lecturer and was appointed as a professor in 2020[1]. Since 2017 Inga has been programme director of MSc Project Management [89] study line, and since 2021 programme director of MA International Business and Project Management [90].
Inga Minelgaite has worked with number of universities, such as BI (Norway) and The Wharton School (USA). Inga is associated/visiting professor at University of Johannesburg, ISM, and other.
She actively participates in research and teaching projects, collaborating with renowned industry experts. She is country collaborator of biggest organizational leadership research ever conducted – GLOBE project[91].
Inga has published her research extensively and she has co-authored first book on organizational leadership in Iceland titled „Demystifying leadership in Iceland: An inquiry into cultural, societal, and entrepreneurial uniqueness“[6].

In 2024 nominated for the Expert of the Year award by Lithuanian Project Management Association/IPMA Lithuania.This nomination recognized Prof. Minelgaite’s efforts and impact of popularizing relevant and emerging topics in project management among a diverse range of stakeholders, and stimulating transdisciplinary dialogue[139].
"Žemaitis" Award, Raseiniai District Municipality, February 2024[140]. The Žemaitis Award is presented by the Raseiniai District Municipality to honor individuals, organizations, or communities that have made significant contributions to the development of the culture, history, public life, or other areas of the Raseiniai region.
“Ariogalos Garbė” (Honor of Ariogala) Award, Ariogala Town, 770th Anniversary Celebration in 2023[141]. The Ariogalos Garbė award is bestowed on individuals who have made exceptional contributions to the development and representation of the Ariogala community. This prestigious recognition is given to both local residents and those whose actions have positively impacted the town and its surroundings. The award symbolizes acknowledgment for achievements that have enhanced the name and prestige of Ariogala.
In 2020, Inga was nominated as the Scientist of the Year by People magazine (“Žmonės“) in Lithuania[2]. She was nominated for her active participation in leadership research, especially for her public outreach on leadership and leadership.
Inga is a co-author of the book Demystifying Leadership in Iceland, which was nominated for the 2018 EURAM Book Award. The European Academy of Management (EURAM) was founded in 2001 and is dedicated to the advancement of management as a discipline in Europe[142].
Personal Life
[edit]Inga Minelgaite is the daughter of Liudvikas Minelga (1957–2016), an electronics engineer, entrepreneur, and top-level manager, and Jovita Minelgienė (b. 1962), an MSc in pedagogy, entrepreneur. She is also a (step)mother of five children.
