Igor Evard
[edit]Igor Evard is a composer, screenwriter and film director.[1]
Igor Evard is a representative of contemporary academic music, a laureate of music competitions, a member of the Union of Composers of Russia and an honored worker of the Moscow Musical Society, a knight of the order of M. Balakirev, an Honorary Citizen of Russia, the creator and president of the international competition of composers ‘Composer XXI'[2] chief editor of the all-Russian music and information newspaper "Playing from the beginning. Da capo al fine". The composer's creative arsenal includes symphonic music, vocal and choral music on verses of famous poets, as well as a wide range of chamber music. Igor Evard has become one of the few Russian composers who develop the genre of ‘classical crossover’.
Igor Evard is a film director and screenwriter of music videos on his own music and the short film Travila. Igor's own music is also used in the film. Igor's directorial works have received many awards at world film festivals, among which 26 are gold awards.
Igor Evard is the creator of the unified information system ‘Music and Culture’[1]
Biography
[edit]Igor Evard was born in Vilnius in 1963. In 1985 he graduated from the Leningrad Mining Institute. Subsequently he worked in a mine, climbed mountains as a sports instructor.
In 1992 he received higher education at the Ryazan branch of the Moscow State Institute of Culture as an orchestra conductor and created an ensemble, which he led for a long time. He taught guitar playing.
Worked as a music journalist, since 1991 was a presenter and music editor on the radio STRC (state television and radio company) ‘Smolensk’. Since 1994 - a member of the Russian Union of Journalists.
In 2000 he received a Candidate of philosophical science degree, defended his Ph.D. thesis on ‘Contemporary Russian Musical Culture: Social and Philosophical Analysis’ at Moscow University for the Humanities.[3] He taught at Moscow University for the Humanities (since 2002 - the author of the Aesthetics course as a special discipline at Moscow University for the Humanities. Since 2003 - associate professor of the Philosophy Department at Moscow University for the Humanities), was the director of the Creativity School at Moscow Humanities University.
Corresponding member of the Russian Academy of Natural Sciences.
In 2003 Igor Evard created the All-Russian music and information newspaper "Playing from the beginning. Da capo al fine" and is currently its chief editor.[4]
In 2013, he organized the international contemporary music competition "Composer of the XXI century" held in Moscow.[5]In 2014, the second competition was held in Kaluga with the support of the Ministry of Culture and Tourism of the Kaluga region.[6]
In 2023, Igor Evard's new symphonic and vocal program "Earth Revival" premiered at the Moscow International Performing Arts Centre.[7]
In 2024, the musical album Earth Revival was released on all music platforms.[8]
Igor Evard has been a member of the jury of many musical competitions: "Composer of the XXI Century" he created (along with Vladislav Kazenin, Sergei Slonimsky, Efrem Podgaits, Ekaterina Mechetina, Ruzanna Lisitsian and others) and many regional competitions.[9]
Composer's Activity
[edit]Igor received his composer's education under the guidance of Efrem Podgaits, Honoured Artist of the Russian Federation.
- 1990 - laureate of the musical competition ‘Voices of Russia’.
- 1992, 1993 - laureate of composer competitions.
- 2002 - publication of author's CDs: ‘Numbers on the Sand’, ‘Lagoon of White Roses’, ‘Ballad of Sea Water’.
- 2002 - publication of the monograph ‘Orpheus in a Split World’
- 2003 - winner of the competition of composers ‘To Smolensk liberation’ (Smolensk)
- 2004 - author's concert in Algeciras (Spain) in the framework of the festival of Russian music of scholarship holders of the International Fund V. Spivakov.
- 2005 - laureate of the ‘EuroOrchestra’ Festival of Young Symphony Orchestras of Europe (France).
- 2010 г. - publication of the double CD ‘Oh, bring back the wings!’, which includes romantic compositions on verses of Lorca and Lermontov, as well as chamber music by Igor Evard.[10]
- 2012 г. - Established and organised the I International Forum and Festival-Competition of cellists dedicated to the 20th anniversary of the proclamation of independence of the Republic of Kazakhstan[11] and the International Competition of Classical Romance, first held in Aktobe from 18 to 20 April 2012[12]
- 2018. - Igor Evard's collection of romances for voice and piano was published in the publishing house ‘Modern Music’. The collection includes the vocal cycles ‘Paying Attention to Sounds’ on poems by Mikhail Lermontov, ‘Lagoon of White Roses’ on poems by Federico Garcia Lorca, and romances on poems by Anna Akhmatova, Leonardo Quirini and Arthur Rimbaud.
- 2020. - Igor Evard worked in the genre of ‘classical crossover’, which involves the synthesis of classical music with various modern trends. A debut EP was released, which combined three compositions in English. Famous music video maker Irina Mironova shot the Rainbow Bridge music video from this album
- 2023 –vocal and symphonic concert ‘Earth Revival’ in the Moscow Performing Arts Centre with the Moscow State Symphony Orchestra, conducted by N. Khondzinsky.[13]
- 2024 - the musical album Earth Revival was released on all music platforms.[8]
