Howden Group Holdings Ltd (“Howden”) is an employee-owned insurance intermediary group headquartered in London, United Kingdom.[1] The company provides a range of insurance and risk management services for individuals, SME’s and large global corporations, with its offering encompassing retail, wholesale, specialty, and reinsurance broking. The group also encompasses DUAL, an international managing general agent (MGA).[2]
Howden holds an international presence, with operations across Europe, Asia, Latin America, and other key markets.[3]

History
[edit]Founded in 1994 by David Howden, initially, the company began as a specialist Directors and Officers (D&O) wholesale broker.[7]
In 1997 Howden made its first acquisition of Spear Gulland, taking its employees to just over 20. A year later in 1998, the underwriting arm, DUAL, was established, followed by its first international broking operation in Spain in 1999, taking the company employee count to 60.
In 2004, a decade after inception, Howden announced the launch of operations in India through a new subsidiary, Howden India.[8]
In 2011, Howden expanded into Asia through acquisition of Accette Insurance Brokers, Asia’s largest independent retail insurance broker.[9]
By 2020, Howden passed £1 billion in revenue pro-forma for acquisitions.[10]
In 2021, Howden acquired brokers Aston Lark for £1.1 billion[11], followed by high-street Broker A-Plan, creating a full-service broking operation in the UK market.[12][13]

[edit]In 2021, Howden entered into a five-year partner deal with Ascot racecourse, further establishing its role in providing insurance brokerage services to the equine industry.[14]
In 2023, Howden was announced Principal partner of The British & Irish Lions with a four-year deal, and named official front of jersey sponsor for The Quatar Airways Lions Men’s Tour to Australia in 2025.[15][16]
