"Hardware Store" is a song by the American satirist and parody artist "Weird Al" Yankovic from his 2003 album Poodle Hat.
Background
[edit]According to "Weird Al" Yankovic, the song was originally going to be a pastiche, but he won't say which artist.[3][4][5]
Musical structure
[edit]The song includes fast paced vocals that were intentional,[6] as Yankovic wanted them to be as fast as possible so the song couldn't be played live.[7]
Personnel
[edit]According to the CD liner notes,[8]
- "Weird Al" Yankovic – lead and backing vocals, keyboards
- Jon "Bermuda" Schwartz – drums
- Jim West – guitars
- Steve Jay – bass
- Lisa Popeil – "some tricky bits"[9]

I guess 'Hardware Store' would fall in that category as well – that was originally going to be in somebody else's style, but then I scrapped that idea and made it a pure original.

It started out as a pastiche, but I won't tell you of which band because its going to wind up as a Wikipedia entry.
