Gopesh Chandra Sarkar is an Indian politician who was a candidate for the Member of Parliament (MP) position from Raiganj, West Bengal, during the 2009 general elections[1]. He represented the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) in the election[1]. Sarkar has a background in academia, holding a doctorate degree, and has been involved in public service and governance.

[edit]Gopesh Chandra Sarkar was born on 1st January 1940 to Late Jogesh Chandra Sarkar. He pursued higher education and obtained an M.Sc. degree in 1967, followed by a Ph.D. in 1972 from Kalyani University. His academic achievements indicate a strong foundation in scientific research and higher education. He later became a professor at Raiganj University, specializing in botany.
Political Career
[edit]Sarkar contested the 2009 Lok Sabha elections from the Raiganj constituency in West Bengal as a candidate of the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP)[1]. However, there is limited publicly available information regarding his political achievements or any positions held within the party.
