Draft:Gilles Lorin
Submission declined on 12 March 2025 by Netherzone (talk). This submission's references do not show that the subject qualifies for a Wikipedia article—that is, they do not show significant coverage (not just passing mentions) about the subject in published, reliable, secondary sources that are independent of the subject (see the guidelines on the notability of people). Before any resubmission, additional references meeting these criteria should be added (see technical help and learn about mistakes to avoid when addressing this issue). If no additional references exist, the subject is not suitable for Wikipedia.

Submission declined on 17 February 2025 by Hoary (talk). This submission is not adequately supported by reliable sources. Reliable sources are required so that information can be verified. If you need help with referencing, please see Referencing for beginners and Citing sources. This submission appears to read more like an advertisement than an entry in an encyclopedia. Encyclopedia articles need to be written from a neutral point of view, and should refer to a range of independent, reliable, published sources, not just to materials produced by the creator of the subject being discussed. This is important so that the article can meet Wikipedia's verifiability policy and the notability of the subject can be established. If you still feel that this subject is worthy of inclusion in Wikipedia, please rewrite your submission to comply with these policies. Declined by Hoary 41 days ago. | ![]() |
Comment: What is needed to establish notability is significant coverage (not just brief mentions) in secondary reliable sources that are fully independent from the person. Netherzone (talk) 18:12, 12 March 2025 (UTC)

Gilles Lorin (born 1973) is a photographer and printmaker based in Brussels, Belgium. He is known for his use of historical photographic techniques such as platinum-palladium and cyanotype printing. His work focuses on landscapes, still life and portraiture, often incorporating gold leaf to create distinctive visual effects.[1]
Early Life and Education
[edit]Gilles Lorin was born in Aix-en-Provence, France, and raised in Megève in the French Alps. He developed an interest in darkroom photography as a teenager and also explored various art forms, including drawing and sculpture, during high school in Florida, USA. Lorin studied business administration, art history, and applied arts at Loyola University in Chicago. In 1992, he moved to Paris and earned a master's degree in art history and archaeology with honors from the Université Paris I - Sorbonne.[2]
Career
[edit]Before becoming a full-time photographer and printmaker, Lorin worked as an expert in Asian art.[1] His photographic practice emphasizes on traditional printmaking techniques, including platinum-palladium printing, known for its tonal richness and durability.[3] He also works with other historical and alternative photographic processes such as cyanotype, wet collodion, and photogravure, which he sees as individual mediums for artistic expression.[4]
Artistic Style and Influence
[edit]Lorin’s work is inspired by art history, religion and philosophy. His compositions often reflect themes of balance, impermanence, and interconnectedness, drawing influence from Daoism, Chinese & Japanese aesthetics, and European art history.
Exhibitions and Collections
[edit]Lorin's work has been exhibited in Europe and the United States. In 2017, Jörg Maass Kunsthandel presented his photographs at the AIPAD Photography Show.[4] His work was also featured among the highlights of Paris Photo 2021 by the British Journal of Photography.[3] His prints are included in various private and public collections.[5]
