Gerold J. Held (born October 1, 1959, Todtnau, Germany) is a German hotelier and executive in the international luxury hospitality industry. He is known for his leadership roles at prominent hotels across Germany and Russia. Since 2013, he has served as General Director of the Rocco Forte Hotel Astoria and the Angleterre Hotel in Saint Petersburg, Russia.
Career
[edit]Held began his hotel management career in December 1999 as General Manager of the Sheraton Airport Hotel in Düsseldorf. The First Class Superior property featured 200 rooms, two restaurants, and nine conference rooms. During his tenure, he managed 112 employees, oversaw a full renovation of the hotel, and helped generate annual revenues exceeding €12 million.
From July 2002 to April 2005, Held was General Manager of the Sheraton Congress Hotel in Frankfurt. The 396-room hotel included three restaurants and a convention center. Under his leadership, it became one of the top 50 revenue-generating hotels in Germany.
Between May 2005 and November 2008, Held served as General Manager of the Corinthia Nevskij Palace Hotel in Saint Petersburg[1]. The hotel underwent a $140 million renovation and expansion during his tenure, adding 104 guest rooms and a new conference center. The project resulted in improved Revenue Generation Index (RGI) and average daily rate despite ongoing construction. His appointment was covered by Delovoy Petersburg, which highlighted his international experience and the strategic importance of the Corinthia brand in the Russian market.
From December 2008 to October 2013, he was General Manager of the Grand Hotel Taschenbergpalais Kempinski in Dresden. The historic Baroque hotel, built in 1705 by Augustus the Strong, included 182 rooms, 32 suites, a ballroom, 14 function rooms, and six restaurants and bars.
Since November 2013, Held has served as General Director of both the Rocco Forte Hotel Astoria and the adjacent Angleterre Hotel in Saint Petersburg.[2]
