The Financial Intelligence Unit of Aruba (FIU-Aruba)[1] was established on March 1, 1996. It is an independent and autonomous government agency responsible for tackling financial crimes.[2] It functions as the national center for receiving, analyzing, and distributing reports of unusual financial transactions submitted by designated service providers.[3] FIU-Aruba is committed to detecting and reporting to money laundering, terrorist financing, and the financing of proliferation activities.[4][5]
FIU-Aruba operates in accordance with Aruba’s anti-money laundering legislation. It aligns its practices with international standards set by the Financial Action Task Force (FATF). It is also a member of the Egmont Group, which promotes international cooperation in financial intelligence.
