The history of the Fieldmaster Metal Detector Company.
The Fieldmaster Metal Detector Company was started in 1976 in Kentish Town, London, England. It was one of the first companies in the UK to manufacture electronic metal detectors for the hobby of metal detecting and Treasure Hunting. Up until then, the hobby was relatively small in countries such as the USA and almost unknown in Europe. If a metal detector was used it would have most likely been a second-hand army mine detector.
Fieldmaster manufactured various ranges of metal detectors and accessories. They were sold in the UK and all around the world. Every metal detector was hand-built to last a life time. In fact many are still be in use today.
Over the years many Fieldmaster metal detector owners reported finds of historical importance and finds that proved to be very valuable.
Continuous research and development ensured Fieldmaster metal detectors remained one of the most popular brands for metal detector users and treasure hunters for more than 30 years.
The directors of the Fieldmaster Metal Detector Company retired in 2009 and the manufacture of Fieldmaster metal detectors was discontinued. As with many Western made products, cheap imports from China was the main reason for discontinuing the business.
