Edward Salazar Celis is a Colombian writer and scholar specializing in Latin American and Latinx arts, fashion and visual cultures. He is the author of the books Nostalgias y aspiraciones: Vestir, estéticas y tránsitos de las clases medias bogotanas en la segunda mitad del siglo XX.[1][2] and Estudios de la moda en Colombia[3] the first fashion reader in the country[4]. He is one of the most prominent authors on critical fashion studies in Latin America and is often cited in the academia and popular media[5][6][7][8][9][10]. He was also the first TV host for Bogota Fashion Week in 2022[11]
In Colombia, his essays have been published in El Malpensante[12], Cartel Urbano[13][14], Cero Setenta[15], among other cultural media. His work on Latinx fashion and aesthetics in the United States has been featured in The Latinx Project[16] and Harvard Review of Latin America[17] as well as in academic sources such as Fashion Theory[18] and the International Journal of Fashion Studies[19]. His contribution aims to expand the study of fashioning Latinidades in academia and beyond, receiving award from the Mellon Foundation among others[20].
