2025 efforts

Following it's removal from the 2025 release calendar in October 2024,^[1] Marvel continued with searching for a new director. Jeff Sneider reported on his newsletter in March 2025 that the studio had met with Cary Joji Fukunaga and Chad Stahelski as potential candidates. Fukunaga had reportedly entered negotiations to direct in late 2024, however those talks would ultimately break down.^[2] Throughout the year, conflicting reports on the status of the film were published, with The Playlist journalist Rodrigo Perez stating at the end of March that the project was "essentially nixed", and Marvel were looking to instead utilize the character in a support role in other MCU properties.^[3]^[4] In June, Variety included Blade among MCU projects still in development,^[5] while Mahershala Ali would express uncertainty about where it stood.^[6]
