Draft:Democratic Tea Party

From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

The Democratic Tea Party is a term referring to discontent within the Democratic Party during the second Trump administration.

During the administration, many in the Democratic base perceived the party's establishment as too moderate or insufficiently anti-Trump.[1] By March, Democratic town halls were increasingly interrupted by protestors.[2] By June 2025, 49% of Democrats, a plurality, were dissatisfied with party leadership; 62% thought leadership should be replaced.[3] That month, democratic socialist Zohran Mamdani defeated establishment candidate Andrew Cuomo in the New York City Democratic mayoral primary.[4]
