Submission declined on 26 July 2025 by RangersRus (talk). This submission's references do not show that the subject qualifies for a Wikipedia article—that is, they do not show significant coverage (not just passing mentions) about the subject in published, reliable, secondary sources that are independent of the subject (see the guidelines on the notability of people). Before any resubmission, additional references meeting these criteria should be added (see technical help and learn about mistakes to avoid when addressing this issue). If no additional references exist, the subject is not suitable for Wikipedia.

Comment: Draft contains hardly any biographical detail about Chetty (education, career, dates, etc), and (with the exception of the BBC News Wales piece) lacks significant coverage about him in reliable independent secondary sources (per WP:GNG). The UCL ref is his employer (not independent); the Guardian ref is a list of his articles; and much of the remaining citations are links to his work, not to pieces about him (note there are broken links - the Royal Institute of Philosophy links go to a page with no mention of Chetty, while the Wales Arts Review redirects to a Thai website). Citations of published work are not sufficient to demonstrate notability. Paul W (talk) 16:43, 25 July 2025 (UTC)
Darren Chetty is a Welsh educator, writer and cultural commentator.[1]
Chetty was born in Swansea in the 1970s. He studied at the University of Exeter, Goldsmiths and University College London[citation needed] before, in 2024, completing his PhD at the Institute of Education.[2] His work focusses on dialogue, hip-hop, antiracism, Philosophy for Children and children's literature.[3]
He has appeared on BBC radio[4][5] and been interviewed in the Guardian,[6] where his critical work on the "classics" of children's literature has been recommended by Michael Rosen.[7] He is perhaps best known for his contribution to the best-selling[according to whom?] essay collection, The Good Immigrant[8] and his picture book I'm Going To Make A Friend.[9]
Chetty is also a football fan, supporting Swansea City and Wales national football team.[10] He appeared in the 2022 documentary 'Tosh' about Swansea City in the 1970s,[11][12] and wrote and presented The Dragon on My Shirt, a documentary that amplifies the stories of Black, Asian and ethnically diverse Wales players.[13] He edited another essay collection Welsh (Plural) with Hanan Issa, Grug Muse, and Iestyn Tyne.[14]
