D56 is the tentative working title of an upcoming Indian Tamil-language historical film[1] written and directed by Mari Selvaraj starring Dhanush in the lead role. The film is produced by Ishari K. Ganesh under his Vels Film International banner.[2]

[edit]On 9 April 2023, commemorating the second anniversary of Karnan (2021), Dhanush announced his next project reuniting with Mari Selvaraj in their second collaboration after Karnan, tentatively titled Production 15 as it is the fifteenth production under Dhanush's Wunderbar Films banner.[3][4] After the success of Vaazhai (2024), Selvaraj revealed that the film is a historical subject and is yet to begin production,[5] right after the completion of his upcoming project Bison.[6] On 9 April 2025, commemorating the fourth anniversary of the release of Karnan,[7] an official announcement was unveiled now tentatively titled D56 and produced by Ishari K. Ganesh under his Vels Film Internation banner, in the latter's first collaboration with both Dhanush and Selvaraj.[8][9]
