Chris Hilton
[edit]Chris Hilton is an Australian producer and executive known for his work in film and television across various genres, including scripted series, documentaries, true crime, and animation. With a career spanning over 500 hours of content, he has collaborated with major global broadcasters such as Disney, Fox, Discovery, National Geographic, ViacomCBS, A&E Networks, PBS, BBC, Channel Four, and Arté France-Germany, along with all Australian television networks. He is the CEO of Tilt Media + Entertainment and previously co-founded Essential Media Group and Hilton Cordell Productions.[1]
Career
[edit]Hilton began his career in film and television in the 1990s, working across documentary and scripted productions. In 1997, he co-founded Hilton Cordell Productions, a company that produced factual and documentary content. In 2005, he co-founded Essential Media Group, where he oversaw the production of multiple scripted series, feature documentaries, and factual programs for international platforms.
In the scripted space, Chris, financed and produced acclaimed series such as ‘Rake’ (ABC), ‘Jack Irish’ (ABC), ‘Doctor Doctor’ (Nine Network), ‘The Principal’ (SBS) and the Disney movie ‘Saving Mr Banks’ starring Tom Hanks and Emma Thompson.[2]
In 2021, Hilton launched Tilt Media + Entertainment, focusing on developing and producing a diverse slate of content for global audiences. One of Tilt Media’s notable projects is Citizens at War: A Year in Ukraine, a six-part documentary series chronicling the lives of Ukrainian citizens and leaders in the wake of Russia’s 2022 invasion.[3]

In 2014 he won the Stanley Hawes Award for his outstanding contribution to the documentary industry in Australia.[5] His work has been recognized for its impact in both documentary and scripted television.
