Catherine Bligh (1774 - February 11,1812)

“At the age of 26 Charle Stewart married his first wife, Lady Catherine Bligh, the youngest daughter of the Earl of Darnley. They were only married for eight years” (Frances Anne, 32).

Charles was on active service for much of his marriage to Catherine. They only had one son, Frederick who eventually became the fourth Marquess of Londonderry” (Frances Anne, 33).

“Lady Catherine died in 1812, while her husband was in Spain. In fact, she expired in the arms of her brother-in-law Castlereagh, who in his brother’s absence tended (to) her with loving care throughout her last illness and gave her medicines with his own hands (Frances Anne, 33).”

Daughter of John Bligh, 3rd Earl of Darnley and Mary Stoyte

Wife of Charles William Steward, 3rd Marquess of Londonderry.
