Albert Deak (b. June 5, 1964, Bals, Romania) is a British artist of Romanian origin, renowned for his vibrant, otherworldly works on canvas and in digital media. Inspired by the universe, constellations, and star explosions, his art often incorporates bright colors, light, and iridescence, creating a sense of awe and wonder.

Early Life and Education

Albert Deak was born in Bals, Romania, and was adopted at nine months old. Despite health challenges following a severe car accident in 1971, his childhood fostered a deep connection to imagination and artistic creation. Encouraged by his primary school art teacher, Paula Tudor, Deak pursued formal artistic training.

In 1979, Deak enrolled at the Craiova Art High School, Romania, specializing in Graphic Arts, from which he graduated in 1982 with both a Baccalaureate Diploma and a Qualification Certificate. He continued his education at the “Ion Andreescu” Institute of Fine Arts (now the University of Art and Design) in Cluj-Napoca, Romania, earning a Bachelor’s degree in Fine and Decorative Arts with a specialization in ceramic design in 1987.

Career

Initially a ceramic designer, Deak shifted focus upon moving to the United Kingdom in 2012, where he explored digital painting and acrylics on canvas. His work is celebrated for its energy and movement, often appearing to vibrate with light and color. Deak draws inspiration from the vastness of space and the mysteries of the universe, crafting a unique visual language.
