Social work and The Pink Force

[edit]

Alongside his professional career, Serrano is the founder and president of The Pink Force, a nonprofit international foundation that brings hope and joy to hospitalized children with cancer. The organization coordinates a global network of more than 30 units of the pink droid R2-KT, present in 15 countries.

Serrano is the builder of the second fully functional unit of R2-KT, originally created in 2005 by Albin Johnson—founder of the 501st Legion and a personal friend of George Lucas—to accompany his daughter Katie during her illness.

Pink Force Factory

[edit]

In 2025, to commemorate the 20th anniversary of the creation of R2-KT, Serrano launched the educational initiative Pink Force Factory, a STEAM project that involves students in schools and universities in building functional replicas of the iconic droid. These robots are then gifted to classmates who are hospitalized with cancer or rare diseases.

The project has been featured in national science and education events such as Madrid es Ciencia and has drawn interest from international institutions such as NASA.

Star Wars charity events

[edit]

Under his leadership, The Pink Force has organized some of the largest Star Wars-themed charity events worldwide, including Pink Force Day in Milan (2023) and La Fuerza contra el Cáncer in Pamplona (2024), in collaboration with leading oncology organizations.
