Agus Subagyo (born April 18, 1978) is an Indonesian lecturer and academic. He is a Professor in the field of International Relations.[1][2] at Jenderal Achmad Yani University, Cimahi, Indonesia. He served as Vice Rector for Academic Affairs[3] Jenderal Achmad Yani University in 2018 to 2019 and 2020 to present.

Education

Agus completed his Bachelor's education in the International Relations study program, Faculty of Social and Political Sciences, Muhammadiyah University of Yogyakarta (FISIPOL UMY) and graduated in 2000.

After graduating, he continued his Master's education, majoring in Political Science with a concentration in International Politics at the Faculty of Social and Political Sciences, Gadjah Mada University (FISIPOL UGM), Yogyakarta and graduated in 2002.

Agus then continued his education by taking a Doctoral study in Political Science with a concentration in International Politics at the Faculty of Social and Political Sciences, Gadjah Mada University (FISIPOL UGM), Yogyakarta, graduating in 2013.

During his student days, he was active in study groups (Study Clubs), such as the GEMAK Study Club and the FELSIS Study Club. In addition, he was once the Executive Editor of Buletin MERCUSUAR and TEROPONG which studied International Politics issues at Muhammadiyah University of Yogyakarta. He was recorded as a History and Geography Tutor at the Institute for Education and Human Resource Development (LPPSDM) "Milenium" Yogyakarta in 2000-2001. In addition, he was active in the Agrotani Empowerment Working Group (KKPA) Pokja Segoro Gunung (2001).

His research experience was as a Research Assistant at the Center for Social and Political Change Studies (PS-PSP) Muhammadiyah University of Yogyakarta in 2000 to 2001, as a research staff at the Center for Democracy and Conflict Management Studies (CDCMS) Yogyakarta in 2000 to 2002, and as Deputy Director of the Center for Democracy and Civil Society Studies (PS-DMS) Yogyakarta in 2001 to 2003, as a research staff at the Center for Government Science Studies (PSIP) Faculty of Social and Political Sciences Jenderal Achmad Yani University in 2002 to 2007, and Head of the Center for Government and Community Studies (PK3) Faculty of Social and Political Sciences Jenderal Achmad Yani University in 2006 to 2010.

Academic Career

Agus began teaching International Relations at the Faculty of Social and Political Sciences, Jenderal Achmad Yani University[4] in 2002. In 2002 – 2008, he became a Research Staff at the Center for Governmental Studies (PSIP) Master of Governmental Science, Jenderal Achmad Yani University and in 2006 - 2009 became the Head of the Center for Governmental and Community Studies (PK3) Faculty of Social and Political Sciences, Jenderal Achmad Yani University.

In 2010, Agus was appointed as Head of the Department of International Relations, Faculty of Social and Political Sciences, Jenderal Achmad Yani University Cimahi[5], not long after in 2011 he was appointed as Vice Dean I for Academic Affairs of the Faculty of Social and Political Sciences Jenderal Achmad Yani University.

In 2012 – 2014, Agus was appointed as Dean of the Faculty of Social and Political Sciences, Universitas Jenderal Achmad Yani for the first period. In 2016 - Present He became Dean of the Faculty of Social and Political Sciences, Jenderal Achmad Yani University, Cimahi for the next period and in the same year He was appointed as Secretary of the Senate of Jenderal Achmad Yani University[6] until now.

In 2018 - 2019 Agus served as Vice Rector I for Academic Affairs, Jenderal Achmad Yani University Cimahi for the first period and in 2020 - Present He served as Vice Rector I for Academic Affairs, Jenderal Achmad Yani University for the next period. In addition to teaching at Jenderal Achmad Yani University, he also teaches at various universities and institutions, including the Indonesian Army Staff and Command School (Seskoad) Bandung[7], Indonesian Army Staff and Command School (Sesko TNI) Bandung[8], Langlang Buana University (FISIP UNLA) Bandung[9], Intelligence Education Center (Pusdikintel) Polri Bandung, Staff and Leadership School (Sespim) Polri, Lembang, Bandung, Swadaya Gunung Jati University (Unswagati / UGJ) Cirebon, Indonesian Defense University (Unhan) Bogor, Indonesian Air Force Staff and Command School (Seskoau) Lembang, West Bandung.

In 2020, Agus received the Satya Lencana Dwidya Sistha Award from the Army Staff and Command College (Seskoad), Bandung[10]. Then in 2024 he received the Alumni Achievement Award from the University of Muhammadiyah Yogyakarta[11].

Some of his books that are references for military practitioners, and policy makers in the field of defense include Bela Negara: Opportunities and Challenges in the Era of Globalization[12], Tentara Cadangan: Formation, Problems, and Prospects[13], and UU TNI: Formulation, Implementation, and Evaluation[14].

In the Regional Head Election event, Agus became a Panelist Member of the Regional Head Election (Pilkada) Debate West Bandung Regency in 2024[15] and became the Chair of the Panelist in the Regional Head Election (Pilkada) Debate Cimahi City in 2024[16].

Inauguration as Professor

Agus was appointed as Professor in international relations science on October 30, 2023 through decree Number 63010/M/07/2023 from Minister of Education, Culture, Research, and Technology[17]. He was inaugurated as a professor on January 10, 2024[18]. He is the first professor of international relations at Jenderal Achmad Yani University.

Organization

Organizational experiences that have been followed include being the Administrator of the Muhammadiyah Organization, Ngampilan Yogyakarta Branch from 1996 to 2002, in addition to being a member of the Muhammadiyah Student Association (IMM), Yogyakarta from 1996 to 2000, being the Administrator of the NGO KKPA (Agrotani Empowerment Working Group) Pokja Segoro Gunung, Yogyakarta from 2000 to 2002, and being the Chairperson of the LPM Institute for Community Development (ICD) Cimahi, West Java from 2007 to 2020.
