Abstract Division is a long-standing collaboration[1][2]between Paul Bax (known by his stage name as Paul Boex[3][4]) and René van Geenen (known by his stage name as Dave Miller [5][6]), a Dutch electronic music producer and DJ duo[7][8] in the sub-genres of techno and ambient.
The duo formed in 2012 and runs their own imprint, Dynamic Reflection[9][10], and its digital sub-labels, The Nursery and Morphologies. In addition to their own productions[11], the duo has also curated several compilations on these labels, featuring music from established artists like Oscar Mulero or Function.
Despite a generational gap between the two of them, they both had been active individually in the Dutch electronic music scene for many years before starting their career together[12]. Dave had been part of collaborations such as Miller & Keane[13][14] and Sculpturism[15], while Paul was part of the collaboration called Dynamo[16].
In addition to Dynamic Reflection, Paul and Dave have released music on labels such as Figure Jams (the label of Len Faki), Planet Rhythm, Semantica, Attic Music, Faut Section, Enemy Records, Obscura, Materia Obscura, and Black Codes Experiments. In 2017, their track Compound Statement was featured in episode 11 of the second season of the Netflix series Sense8, marking one of their most notable placements in a major production[17].
