Dev Agarwal is an Indian cinematographer[1] and film director.[2] He is best known for films like CityLights[3] and Bollywood Diaries. He directed the documentary film Moved by Love, which was screened at Cannes in 2015.[4] He was nominated for his work in the feature film Invasion 1897 at BON awards for best cinematography.[5][6] He filmed an advertising campaign for Manforce Condoms "Shut The Phone Up 3"[7] which won two golds in the Best use of Social media for CSR and Best use of video for CSR categories at Foxglove advertising awards.[8][9]
Early life
[edit]In Kolkata, Agarwal studied mass communication and film studies at St. Xavier's College, Kolkata and then did his post-graduate work in cinematography from Film and Television Institute of India.[10]
Career
[edit]Shortly after graduating from the Film & Television Institute of India, Agarwal worked as a cinematographer on travel documentaries, which took him to different countries in southeast Asia and various locations abroad. His documentary Unheard Voices captured the plight of the Tibetan refugee. The film was screened at various film festivals.[11] His documentary Moved by Love about the plight of helpless donkeys was screened at Cannes.[4]
Agarwal filmed the Nigerian historical drama Invasion 1897.[12]
In 2012, Agarwal started Purple Haze Films.[13]
