Deep Narayan Singh (25 November 1894 – 7 December 1977) was an Indian politician, participant in the Indian independence movement, and a former Chief Minister of Bihar.[1][failed verification][2]

Born in Purantand, Bihar,[citation needed] Singh was a Member of the Constituent Assembly of India which was elected to write the Constitution of India.[3] He also served as part of India's first Parliament as an independent nation and was a Member of the Bihar Legislative Assembly. He was associated with the triumvirate of nationalists Rajendra Babu, Anugraha Babu and Shri babu. He succeeded Krishna Singh as the Chief Minister of Bihar.

In 1979, a museum was established in his honour by the Directorate of Archaeology and Museum in Hajipur, Bihar.

At that time, the Governor of Bihar was the educationist Dr. Zakir Husain, who would later become the President of India. He faced a peculiar crisis. It was the first time in the country that a sitting Chief Minister had died while in office. The Constitution did not provide clear guidance on what to do next in such a situation. In this context, Dr. Husain decided to administer the oath of office to Deep Narayan Singh, the senior-most minister in Shri Krishna Singh’s cabinet, as the acting Chief Minister.
