This category is for people from the Malay Archipelago before the area they were from was incorporated into various colonial states, such as the Dutch East Indies, the Spanish East Indies, as well as British and Portuguese colonies in the area. For cases where there are clear states people were from in the time, the people from those states can be included in a sub-cat. For those from small states, unclear ones, or where we lack enough articles to justify a sub-cat they should be placed in this category.
