Alexey Alexandrovich Gubanov (JesusAVGN, Jesus; born March 30, 1992, Novokuznetsk, Kemerovo Region) is a Russian blogger and one of the most famous Twitch streamers in Russia.[1]
Biography
[edit]Gubanov was born in 1992 in the city of Novokuznetsk. Gubanov's childhood was difficult, as he demonstrated poor performance during high school, and his family was not financially stable. Gubanov has repeatedly mentioned that "sometimes money was not enough even for food". At the end of 2019, on his third application, Gubanov received an American visa and flew to New York City for the first time to meet with the streamer DizzyDizaster.[2] In 2021, he moved to the United States with a green card (permanent residency).[2]
Career
[edit]Gubanov is one of the most popular Russian-speaking streamers on Twitch. His channel has more than 1.8 million subscribers.[3] Gubanov started his blogging career by playing horror games on YouTube. For three years after creating his channels, Gubanov hid his face from the public, showing it only in a video dedicated to the New Year 2016.[2]
Political persecution in Russia
[edit]On January 30, 2025, by a decision of the Tverskoy Court of Moscow, he was found guilty of discrediting the Armed Forces of the Russian Federation and fined 50,000 rubles of the Russian Federation. Ekaterina Mizulina, director of the League for Safe Internet, a public organization, noted that it was she who appealed to the Prosecutor General's Office with a request to check the blogger's activities.[4]
On 4 April 2025, Gubanov was declared by the Russian Ministry of Justice as a foreign agent.[5]
