The 2025 Super Cup, also referred to as the 2025 Kalinga Super Cup due to sponsorship reasons, is the fifth edition of the national knockout football tournament organized by the All India Football Federation (AIFF). It features top-tier clubs from the Indian Super League and leading teams from the I-League, serving as a unifying competition across divisions in Indian football.
The tournament is held from 20 April to 3 May 2025 at the Kalinga Stadium in Bhubaneswar, Odisha. East Bengal enter as the defending champions. [3][4] It features clubs from the ISL and the I-League, the first and second tier of the Indian football league system.[5][6]
Teams
[edit]The 13 ISL teams were seeded for the round of 16 according to their final league position in the 2024–25 season. Three I-League teams confirmed their participation – Churchill Brothers, Inter Kashi and Gokulam Kerala. They will face the top three ISL teams (Mohun Bagan, FC Goa and Bengaluru). These three match-ups were decided by a draw on Wednesday, April 9.[7][8] Later Churchill Brothers announced they would withdraw from Super Cup, citing "I-League title deciding controversy" as the reason, awarding Mohun Bagan a bye in the round of 16 and granting a direct entry into the quarter-finals.[1][2]
