On 22 April 2022, an explosion in southern Nigeria killed 110 people.[1][2][3] It happened at an illegal oil refinery on the boundary of Imo State and Rivers State.[2][3]

Nigerian President Muhammadu Buhari described the explosion as a "catastrophe" and "national disaster".[4]
