1979 tennis event results
Chris Evert defeated Wendy Turnbull in the final, 6–2, 6–0 to win the women's singles tennis title at the 1979 French Open.[ 1] It was her third French Open singles title and her ninth major singles title overall. Evert extended her win streak at the event to 18 matches, having won the title on her last two appearances in 1974 and 1975 .
Virginia Ruzici was the defending champion, but lost in the quarterfinals to Dianne Fromholtz .
