Photos of common poster areas
[edit]Are these excluded in freedom of panorama issues, or are the posters themselves artworks and therefore should not be uploaded to Commons? If the photo somehow includes a partial shot of a house, would it also be against freedom of panorama due to the architectural features of a house? How about common poster areas found in bridges, arenas and other public places? Howard the Duck (talk) 03:38, 5 May 2025 (UTC)
- If houses are in the background and not the focus of the photo, then these may be allowed under de minimis principles. The posters, on the other hand, are copyrighted and can't be uploaded to Commons. But I guess a wide photo showing tons of campaign posters would be okay as long as individual posters are not too visible per de minimis. —seav (talk) 09:03, 5 May 2025 (UTC)
- Short of VGA resolution or worse, a photo of this sort would seem to be "illegal". Howard the Duck (talk) 19:35, 7 May 2025 (UTC)
- Posters are also works of art (as graphic works); many of the campaign posters exhibit creativity. There is also the problem of the photos of the candidates themselves that lie within those posters. Such photos may or may not be eligible for c:Template:PD-PhilippinesGov, but it's more likely that those photos of candidates (especially local and newbie ones) are not government works. The campaign posters themselves are very likely not government works, since it is normal for the campaign teams or their supporters/benefactors to contact third-party (not government) graphic designers to create those artworks. Less certain for houses, since there is no available information on when those houses were completed, but I suspect many of our houses are post-1972, making them eligible for architectural copyright. Google Earth's timelapse feature is a good starting point to investigate whether a certain Philippine building is post-2000 or not. Seav is correct though, that it's OK to publish images of streetscapes showing many campaign posters (with no focus to a poster or two or three or at most five or six). De minimis#Copyright rule applies.
- Postscriptum: campaign posters are typically temporary works, and won't be eligible for the future Philippine FoP. JWilz12345 (Talk|Contrib's.) 12:54, 13 May 2025 (UTC)

Draft article on car crash at Ninoy Aquino International Airport
[edit]Hello, everybody. I want to let everybody know that I have recently finished creating a draft article on the recent car crash at Ninoy Aquino International Airport, which is based on existing information circulating as of yesterday, May 6. The draft can be seen at Draft:Ninoy Aquino International Airport car crash. The accident should pass notability guidelines, particularly WP:NEVENT, because not only did it have substantial coverage by the media, several well-known personalities have reacted to the crash as well, and it gave an eye-opener for the alleged corruption of the substandard bollards installed at the airport and faulty airport design, which can drastically pose significant effects in the long run. Feel free to update the article as the story progresses. – Relayed (t • c) 04:47, 7 May 2025 (UTC)
- This is something the person reviewing the draft would have to assess, but it could have just been merged into the main NAIA article. Many event articles are WP:REACTIONS-cruft and are frowned upon by most AFD regulars. Howard the Duck (talk) 10:22, 7 May 2025 (UTC)
- It’s already listed in the accidents sections. FWIW, I’d expect the only lasting thing I’d see is them replacing those fake-looking bollards and rearranging the parking, which would amount to between 2-3 sentences. Borgenland (talk) 11:00, 7 May 2025 (UTC)
PH-specific info for Anti-Indian sentiment
[edit]Looks like this may help from adding some info about Philippines-specific forms of discrimination against Indians (and South Asians in general), such as Indians' negative association with things such as 5-6 money-lending, Indians being sometimes referred to as bumbay, to the common negative stereotype of Indians lacking hygiene (also common elsewhere). TagaSanPedroAko (talk) 07:04, 8 May 2025 (UTC)
- Such info may also be relevant for the Indian Filipinos page. -TagaSanPedroAko (talk) 07:05, 8 May 2025 (UTC)
Request: 2025 SVG district map
[edit]
Like the one to the right. It can all be gray for now since no one has won yet. The only differences are:
- Agusan del Norte will now comprise the entire province, then Butuan will get its own
- New Makati/Taguig boundary
- Special Geographic Area not being represented
Howard the Duck (talk) 20:04, 9 May 2025 (UTC)
- Can I ask where did you get the template of this map? Like if I want to create something similar where I can put colour in the philippines provinces or congressional districts, where do i find the template? Flowerrick404 (talk) 00:46, 19 May 2025 (UTC)
- This is an SVG map, and someone else created this, but the last edit was from a few years ago. Howard the Duck (talk) 16:40, 19 May 2025 (UTC)

Now that the elections are done...
[edit]...if the government section in city and municipal articles will be updated, I'd ask two things to change as well:
- Change "government type" in the infobox to "Mayor–council government" from "Sangguniang Bayan"
- Change "Members of the Municipal Council" to "Elected officials"
