Holiday Greetings
[edit]
Peace is a state of balance and understanding in yourself and between others, where respect is gained by the acceptance of differences, tolerance persists, conflicts are resolved through dialog, people's rights are respected and their voices are heard, and everyone is at their highest point of serenity without social tension. Happy Holidays to you and yours. It's been a while. Hope all is well! ―Buster7 ☎

Recent revert
[edit]I'm not going to push it, because I suppose you're right that people should be able to guess what it means - but the page is now technically incorrect. Admins have the extended confirmed user permission which allows them, like extended confirmed accounts, to edit pages under ECP. They're not extended confirmed accounts, however, which is why administrators can't read this part of the sentence - but they can read this part!(check the source code to see what I'm talking about). As an alternative exercise: look up an administrator of your choice in Special:ListUsers/extendedconfirmed and see if you can find them. And there's your fun niche fact of the day! GreenLipstickLesbian💌🦋 06:38, 26 March 2025 (UTC)
- I am aware, but I generally also follow the principle of most conciseness. Strictly speaking, there is no concept of "extended confirmed editor" but just "editor with extended confirmed permission" or "editor with extended confirmed userright". But the difference between the two is not really impactful enough to add extra words explaining so.
- A similar example was for Wikipedia_talk:Requests_for_adminship/2024_review#Proposal_14_close where the suffrage was changed to XC. And there as well, the final wording on Wikipedia:Requests for adminship, the wording of choice was "extended confirmed account" as opposed to a verbose version or "500 edits/30 days". (But huh, it does say admins there explicitly, I didn't notice that!)
- I remember there was a quarry run with a list of "which editors meet 500/30 but don't have XC" and it had a bunch of ex-admins as well (and very few XC revokes). Obviously there's consensus (I think explicitly too?) to allow such editors to participate in RFA/RECALL. But even that's not explicitly laid out.
- Ultimately, it does not matter, so you are right on that. But I am open to just having a quick discussion on WT:RFA to tighten all three XC wordings on both WP:RFA and WP:RECALL pages Soni (talk) 07:22, 26 March 2025 (UTC)
