If the fragrance of God's remembrance pervades the West, the sick man in the East might get well again.

— Egyptian poet

Hello and Welcome

[edit]

My friend, you and I shall remain strangers unto life,

And unto one another, and each unto himself,

Until the day when you shall speak and I shall listen

Deeming your voice my own voice; And when I shall stand before you

Thinking myself standing before a mirror.

--Kahlil Gibran

About me

[edit]

I don't enjoy talking about myself – perhaps there's really nothing to say. As Wittgenstein reminds us, Whereof one cannot speak, thereof one must be silent.

What I do

[edit]

I mostly write biographies of Islamic studies scholars and other figures connected to Islam. I have also written more than a dozen fresh articles on Islam and the Qur'an, decolonial studies, metaphysics, perennial philosophy, and environment. I have also rewritten and expanded many existing articles, particularly those related to spiritual and epistemic aspects of Islam. More broadly, I have a deep interest in philosophy and religion and I make minor contributions to related articles whenever a topic intrigues me.
