Did you know? If you fancy doing so, I always have plenty of GA nominees to review. Just look for the all-uppercase titles in the Television section. Reviews always appreciated.
We're almost there. A handful of copy changes and one suggested reference addition. I also have a question that affects all the swimming articles from this Olympics on videos from Eurosport. Ping me when done. Sammi Brie (she/her · t · c) 07:32, 10 May 2025 (UTC)

Done
- Is the linking of nationalities normal in this type of article? It creates some back-to-back blue links in the lead.
- I couldn't find any GA event articles to compare to, so I decided to go ahead and do it. It builds a good web for the 2024 Olympics articles, but it also creates back to back blue links. I have a preference for keeping them but I'm also happy to remove them if you think it's important.
- Encouragement: Add scopes to rows and columns in tables (MOS:DTAB).
- I wasn't aware of this, but I'll try and learn how to do it at some point. I deal with tables exclusively in the visual editor so I would need to learn wikitext syntax to figure it all out.
- If you ever handle a featured list, this is a requirement at FLC, so it's good to learn. Sammi Brie (she/her · t · c) 16:36, 10 May 2025 (UTC)

Geofenced videos
[edit]I would like to make a comment on the external video, which is from Eurosport. It is not available at least in my location and I suspect anywhere outside Eurosport's Olympics rights footprint. Likewise, I have access to a similar video from NBC, but it would only be available in the United States. I cannot find an official upload of the full event from the IOC, and we both know how tight the IOC is with Olympics rights. As such, there may not be a single video available in all geographies.
This applies to all the articles I randomly reviewed from swimming at the 2024 Summer Olympics, which use videos from Eurosport. At a minimum, a "Europe only" label is advisable. There are options which could include adding videos from other countries, linking to a search, etc. As far as I can tell, this is the first time a geoblocked video in {{External media}} has ever been discussed.
- Yes, I agree. I didn't realise they were geolocked when I added them. I think linking to the race video has high encyclopaedic value, but the only way to really do it for a global audience is to link to a search. I think I will remove them for now. I have removed the one in this article and will remove the others later.
- I agree that in an ideal world this is exactly the use of that template you'd want. It's just, well, Olympics rights are a beast, and we'd end up having to make some serious choices. Some of the athletics events seem to have full uploads from the IOC, and there may be highlights videos usable as substitutes, but not for every event. For the record, I found a checker that looks at availability of videos, and the Eurosport one is available in most European countries except France (presumably to accommodate the sublicense to France Télévisions) but including Turkey and Israel. The IOC does appear to have something here. Sammi Brie (she/her · t · c) 16:36, 10 May 2025 (UTC)

A citation on the length of the supersuit era may be merited as I can't verify that directly from [12]. No other issues on spot check.

Done in this article, I'll do it to all the rest later when removing the external links sections.
MOS-compliant lead: trivial race details removed for clarity and relevance
[edit]I trimmed the lead (stating lap count) per MOS:LEDE to better summarize key points. Similar issue was raised earlier on this talk page: (Rredundant filler info in lede). Don't think there needs to be another discussion for the exact same issue. See also User:IP49XX/Why MOS Matters for further explanation. IP49XX (talk) 01:07, 13 May 2025 (UTC)
